Cheers – Alcohol Aware Glowing Ice Cubes

Well not strictly part of the “internet of things” but connected and interesting none the less. An MIT Media Labs researcher named Dhairya Dand created ice cubes that remember how much you drink. The cubes are made out of a very small LED, a battery and an accelerometer encased in a gelatine cube.

The LEDs change color from green to red the more you drink, react to background music by pulsating and in the event of too much alcohol, they’ll even text a close friend of yours that you might need help.
